Dr. Clifford Eke, MD, FACS, FICS

About the Founder of Chima Medical Missions

Clifford Eke, MD, FACS, FICS is attending general and general-thoracic surgeon at Kaiser Permanente in Fontana/Ontario, California. He was President of American Cancer Society, California Division, Inc. from 2011-2012. Dr. Eke received his Doctor of Medicine degree from Loma Linda University School of Medicine (LLUSM), Loma Linda, California in 1992. He completed his General Surgery Residency at Loma Linda University Medical Center in 1997 and his Postdoctoral Fellowship in General Thoracic Surgery at Kaiser Permanente Hospital, Fontana in 1998. He received his Bachelor of Science and Postgraduate in Biology from Baylor University, Waco, Texas in 1987 and 1988, respectively.

Dr. Eke is also an Assistant Clinical Professor of Surgery at LLUSM. He is American Board of Surgery certified, a diplomat of the National Boards of Medical Examiners and Medical Board of California Physician’s and Surgeon’s certified. He is the founder and CEO of Chima Medical Missions International, a non-profit organization that provides general medical care and surgical services in Nigeria. Dr. Eke and his wife, Eucharia Eke, RN, BSN travel to Nigeria every year to provide medical mission services. Dr. Eke is also a volunteer and a member of the board of directors of Imo State Medical Missions, Inc., Nigeria. Dr. Eke volunteers for many other organizations such as the Salvation Army ARC, San Bernardino where he served on its board from 2005-2007; Loma Linda University Big Brother/Sister Program through Students For International Mission Services (SIMS); Social Action Corps (SAC) Clinics through SIMS; and previously, as summer volunteer at Veterans’ Administration Hospital and Providence Hospital, both in Waco, Texas.

Dr. Eke is currently the Chair, Mission Delivery Group of American Cancer Society, California Division, Inc. He has also served as a delegate to the American Cancer Society National Assembly. Dr. Eke is a member of numerous organizations such as the International College of Surgeons, Association of Nigerian Physicians in America (ANPA), National Medical Association, American College of Surgeons, California Medical Association, and many more. Dr. Eke has received many awards, among them, the Physician Exceptional Contribution Award from Kaiser Fontana in 2006; America’s Top Surgeons, Consumer Research Council of America, 2004; Resident of the Year, General Surgery Residency Program Loma Linda University Medical Center, 1997 and many more. Dr. Eke was MVP and Co-Captain of the Men’s Soccer Team at Baylor University in 1987 and a recipient of the Pat Fielder Memorial Award, Outstanding International Student at Baylor. He has published many articles related to cardiovascular problems. Dr. Eke has made multiple presentations on colon cancer, breast cancer, and other medical topics.

Dr. Eke and his wife, Eucharia, have four children and live in Riverside, California. His hobbies include soccer, weight lifting, reading, disc jockeying, medical missions and volunteerism. Since 2005, Dr. Eke has served as coach and referee at AYSO and Upward Soccer, in Highland, California
